About Me

I believe in people’s ability to change while acknowledging the tremendous courage it takes to seek help in an effort to look within and create change. I aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental and confidential environment conducive to self-exploration, insight, growth and healing. I place great value on the therapeutic relationship as a supportive alliance is a crucial component in facilitating change.

It is an honor and a privilege to accompany clients on their journey of self-transformation. Together we explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors to uncover underlying issues, past and present, contributing to patterns keeping clients stuck or causing unease. On each unique journey I help clients embrace their authentic self and guide them through the process via self-awareness and mindfulness along with developing and implementing healthy coping skills.

As a private practitioner for over 20 years, I use an eclectic approach of evidenced based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and enjoy working with adolescents and adults. Throughout the years I have specialized in the treatment of Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, Over Exercising and Body Image Issues. I have also worked a great deal with clients pre and post Gastric Bypass Surgery. When needed I use a multidisciplinary team approach to treat eating disorders where I collaborate with a treatment team of physicians, dietitians and family therapists in an effort to provide comprehensive care considering the complexities of eating disorders.

While I uphold an interest in treating the wide spectrum of eating disorders, I maintain a general practice treating clients presenting with concerns of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self esteem, couples issues and life transition stressors.

In addition to providing individual psychotherapy I facilitate group therapies to include Post Gastric Bypass Psychotherapy Groups and Binge Eating Support Groups. (If interested please contact me for more information as they are currently not available).

Outside of my clinical work I have over the years been involved in outreach programs presenting to local high schools on the topics of Eating Disorders and Teen Dating Violence/Abuse in addition to mentoring pregnant teenagers and conducted research on the topic of Eating Disorders and Pregnancy. Additionally, I have co-facilitated groups for court ordered males convicted of Domestic Violence, provided court support for victims of Domestic Violence seeking protective orders and co-facilitated groups for children exposed to Domestic Violence. With an interest in animal assisted therapies and how the connection with animals enhances the healing process, I am looking to pursue equine assisted therapy training.

I received my graduate degree from The Catholic University of America and began my clinical training as one of the original therapists of the Growth and Recovery Center.
